Creating a Template in AutoCAD The easiest way to create AutoCAD templates is from an existing drawing from which you wish to keep specific settings. So let´s see the steps: 1 Open a base drawing file. 2 Select all drawing entities (you can use Ctrl+A AutoCAD keyboard Shorcut) and click Home tab→Modify panel→Erase command.
I am trying to create hundreds of drawings (loop diagrams) using a template. The drawings will differ from each other only in text, which comes from an excel spreadsheet.
I don't want the data from the excel sheet to form a table in the drawings. I need it to populate blocks (attributes?) at various places on the drawings.
I am super new to AutoCAD, and also VBA. I am trying to work out some kind of code in excel to automate these drawings. I would rather use VBA than autolisp but I can try to learn autolisp if necessary.
Does anyone know of a process to automate drawings like this? I have searched the internets and found this problem, but no solutions that I can understand.
